Future looking “rosy” for Installers!

“Gardien” MD, Bill Seddon, is predicting increased business for Security Installers this year in the new, yet rapidly expanding, market created by the growth of Garden Crime.

The Association of British Insurers recently predicted that 1 in 7 gardens would be targeted by thieves this year - with gardeners facing a bill of £100 million thanks to thieves and vandals. This is not a new phenomenon; garden crime has been rising steadily over recent years.

However, what is new is the emerging range of technologies which are ideally suited to garden surveillance and protection.

According to Gardien Security Director, Mick Gains, QPM, “Advanced CCTV digital technology brings with it greater flexibility, enabling live or recorded images to be transmitted over existing communications infrastructures. Transmission of CCTV over Internet Protocol networks is becoming increasingly commonplace with very high definition image recognition now available. The further application of Video Analytics is ideally suited to a garden environment, where instant warning of “object removal” has hitherto seemed impossible.”

In partnership with sister company, English Garden Antiques, Gardien

is pioneering the application of these new technologies on threshold systems, which are within the budget of the average domestic user.

The prospect of monitoring one’s garden security and contents from a mobile – anywhere in the world, would until recently have seemed like a pipe-dream. Gardien, already achieving considerable success, are looking to forge further commercial partnerships and joint-working arrangements with technology and installation companies operating in this and associated security market sectors with a view to developing new and innovative cost effective domestic packages which will appeal to the vast gardening public.
