Plant Your Trees And Shrubs Securely

We are now fast approaching the time of year which is best for planting. Sadly, however, there has been an increase in recent years of newly-planted trees and shrubs being lifted by thieves, who can easily sell them at car boot sales and the like. There is now a cost-effective solution to prevent theft of these items, namely the Rootball Anchor. This device is easily fitted during planting and will prevent your expensive plants from disappearing. At only £27.50 per plant (which can often cost hundreds of pounds) it is well worth protecting the expense and effort involved in the planting process. Click here for details

Why Plant Trees and Shrubs Now?

As experienced gardeners are aware, late autumn is the best time for bare-root trees to go into the ground because the roots can develop before leaves emerge and the tree starts taking up water in the springtime (it’s also the time when trees are best supplied by nurseries).
Although you can possibly plant a container-grown tree at any time of year, autumn is without doubt the best season because the soil is still warm after the summer, yet it is moist from the autumn rains. In such conditions, any new roots that are produced will grow quickly to settle the tree into the ground. Moving of plants or trees at other times is not recommended because water is needed for growth in the summer and it will make them susceptible to parching if their roots are disturbed.

Police Initiatives Endorse Property Marking

Local police forces in Richmond upon Thames and Greenwich Borough have mounted independent property marking initiatives in their "hot spot" burglary areas. Use of SelectaDNA Property Marking Kits and warning signs provided startling results with:-

41% reduction in domestic burglaries
60% reduction in theft from vehicles
50% reduction in theft of vehicles

For a cost of approx £1.00 each to safeguard your possessions, it really is a most cost effective
deterrent - with the added bonus that potential stolen goods can be returned to you if marked with your postcode!
Remember:

  1. Property Marking makes your valuables worthless to a thief!
  2. Deterrent Notices encourage thieves to look elsewhere!
